The Today screen: the date, the day's fast, the readings, a reflection, and the saint of the day
What's inside

Everything the day asks for,
on one screen.

Orthodox Daily Companion is a free-to-download Orthodox Christian app for iPhone and iPad from the Orthodox Calendar Company, publisher of the Lives of the Saints calendar since 1995. Each day it shows the saints commemorated, the appointed Epistle and Gospel readings, morning and evening prayers, and the fasting rule, with every feast marked under both the Julian (Old) and Revised Julian (New) calendars.

Today, in one place

The saints commemorated today, the appointed Epistle and Gospel, and the fast, gathered on a single screen. No feed to scroll.

Prayers you can pray

Morning and evening prayers laid out for a phone screen, so you pray them rather than assemble them. The prayer app

The fasting rule

Is today a fast? Strict, or wine and oil? A plain answer for the date you are standing in. The fasting app

Old Calendar or New

Every feast is marked under both the Julian and Revised Julian reckonings, so the app keeps the day your parish keeps. The calendar app

A widget and reminders

A Home Screen widget and prayer reminders bring the day to you before you go looking for it.

A private journal

A quiet place for the day's reflection, an intention, or the name of someone on your heart - kept on your device, not on our servers.

Free to download

Free to start,
and free to keep.

Orthodox Daily Companion is free to download from the App Store, and the free app is not a demo: it includes the daily synaxarion, the prayers, and a daily saying. Optional premium features are purchased and managed through Apple, so you can see the price before you pay and cancel from your iPhone’s Settings.

On an Android phone or a computer? The separate Lives of the Saints web app runs in any modern browser, with its own seven-day free trial.

Who makes it

From the people
who print the calendar.

Orthodox Daily Companion is made by Lives of the Saints - the Orthodox Calendar Company, a family-run publisher that has printed the annual Lives of the Saints calendar since 1995. The app carries the same saints, readings, and fasts as the printed calendar.

It is built for Eastern and Oriental Orthodox Christians - and for catechumens and inquirers learning the rhythm of the Church - rather than adapted from a generic Christian app. What you write stays yours: we do not sell it, show it to anyone else, or use it to train machine-learning models.
